The analysis of dissertations and the development of guiding principles for quality dissertations has been one of the most fun and productive projects that I have worked on with Dr. Kara Dawson in the last few years. We earlier published an article in TechTrends based on An analysis of professional practice Ed.D. dissertations in Educational Technology, and now have a book chapter titled “Guiding principles for quality professional practice dissertations” in a book focused exclusively on the dissertation research in EdD programs. These guiding principles provide students beginning their dissertation with a starting point and are useful to faculty members mentoring dissertations too.
