Research

My research is focused on the design, development, implementation and impact of online graduate education. I am especially interested in the design of online professional programs for students’ transformational learning and professional growth. My recent books focus on quality in online programs and the design, implementation, and evaluation of an online doctorate for researching professionals. Other articles, book chapters and conference papers have dealt with online curriculum design and pedagogy, instructional design as a profession, community-building among educational practitioners, and online mentoring.

My post-dissertation research focused on the use of social media formally and informally by students and faculty members in several disciplines in higher education. I continue to study the use of social media and emerging technologies in higher education.
